Friday Book Report

Forever Young      >>>------------------>
by Bob Dylan // Illustrations by Paul Rogers

One of my all time favorite Bob Dylan songs made it's way into a vibrant child's book that highlights all the great infamous Dylan traits and fables strewn by the very cool illustrations of Paul Rogers. This book is so cute I almost can't take it. I'm not sure the boys enjoy it quite as much as I do (yet) but figure the words of wisdom (which Dylan penned especially for his youngest son, Jacob, after he was born) might seep in and root themselves somewhere significant.

Here are the lyrics (just in case you aren't familiar)
It's great song. And a very neat book.

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young

  1. Didn't you get that book a long time ago (and a couple children ago) when we went to the Getty? Anyway, great song and the illustrations look rad.

  2. hey i finally figured out i needed to put your blog in my google reader! sometimes i'm slow.... and i'm planning on ordering a teepee before july for lola's birthday party, yay!

anyway, this book looks so cute! last summer lola had a little friend, who was born 2 days before she was so they'd been friends their whole short lives, move to japan and i made them each a blurb book of all their pictures together, these lyrics and the jack kerouac quote: "There was nowhere to go but everywhere, so just keep on rolling under the stars"....

  3. Anne - oh, I forgot about buying that there! That is actually another book, which I love but they aren't interested in. It's a bit darker and has the lyrics to Desolation Row :) Can't have too many!

Kati! Thank you! And man, I am so excited to hear Lola might need a teepee in her life. We love sending them to Portland, where they are destined for greatest :)

That book you put together sounds awesome. What a cute idea. And I also noticed the Leonard Cohen quote on your blog (girl after my own heart)

    Have a happy weekend!

  4. Wow, how have I never seen this book?! Looks fantastic!

  5. I love that!! How awesome. Might try and get that on Amazon! Also love the pics as always- they are fab Jessica,

  6. I want this book immediately. What a cool idea.. Also, I’m not a big TV watcher, but this is the opening song to a show called Parenthood, which is one of my all-time favorites.
